GNU Sovix

Webmaster quiz

We welcome new volunteers to join the Sovix webmasters group. Since our philosophy is so important to us, we have a small quiz and background questions for potential webmasters. If you are interested, please take a look.

  1. In what way is Sovix different from most website applications?
  2. In your own words, what is Sovix, and what is its purpose?
  3. What is private software? What is free software? Give an example of a website that distribute the software code as free software (sovix.org does not count).
  4. Are you generally familiar and comfortable with the essays and positions that GNU and FSF take, as stated at their philosophy page?
  5. Is it possible to sell free software web documents? Give an example of how selling free software web documents might work.
  6. Please read GNU guidelines for web site volunteers if you haven't already. Are you comfortable with the information there?
  7. How experienced are you with HTML, CSS, Server side includes, CVS and Sovix?
  8. Currently, a large amount of webmastering work involves work with Sovix. Are you happy with this?
  9. How much time can you currently commit to webmastering? (Of course, this can be changed at any time, but helps determine where you can best help initially).
  10. Please write a few words about your computer set up - operating system, text editor, etc.

Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to ask on Freenode in #sovix-webmasters. Thanks for your interest!

Ready? Email your completed quiz to chief-webmaster@sovix.org. Please put 'I want to be a Sovix Webmaster' in the subject line. Any submissions without this in the subject line will be rejected. Applications should be made only in plain text, in the body of your email. Any PDF, RTF, etc applications will be ignored.

Please wait 2-3 weeks to hear about your application. Good luck.

Please report any problems or suggestions to webmaster@sovix.org.
